Get your hack on with the forge SDK – innovate, disrupt and triumph!
This coming weekend, 28th and 29th March, the forge by Acision team will join innovators, makers and developers for the third series of the Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon in Orlando, Florida. As a gold sponsor, competing individuals will have access to the forge SDK, to develop applications or platforms across the theme Smart, Dynamic, Immersive Entertainment Driven by Technology. Each prototype developed will be judged according to its value, as well as its fit with one of the challenges from Universal Parks & Resorts, Telemundo, NBC Universo and Golf Channel’s GolfNow.
“Following our own ‘forgeathon app challenge’ in early 2015, we’re now back and powering up for another codefest but this time, alongside one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies, NBCUniversal! Participation in this hackathon comes at an apt time for Acision, as we continue to spread the word about the possibilities with WebRTC technology, and build a community of developers. Acision is excited to be gold sponsors joining some esteemed brands, and cannot wait to see the hottest ideas that will be built with our forge SDK. We are looking for smart, sharp and disruptive prototypes that spotlight the capability of forge,” said Eric Bilange, head of Rich Engagement Service at Acision.
Accessible through the forge by Acision portal, the newest release of the forge SDK, enables developers to integrate the very latest rich communication and WebRTC technology into their projects, whether that be two-way video chat, or a click-to-call button on a website. Developers can also integrate any of the below functionality into apps with the forge SDK:
– SMS, IP Messaging and Group Messaging
– Push notifications
– Video and voice chat
– Intelligent routing
– Rich media file transfer
– Presence
– Recording and storing of messages, voice, video and presence
– Integration with popular authentication services such as Facebook,
Office 365, LinkedIn, Google Plus, GitHub and Janrain
– Distinct levels of end-to-end secure messaging, based on Acision’s
expertise in carrier-grade messaging
Ideal for the gaming, entertainment or social markets, developers can bolt on group chat into any new or pre-existing service or game, for example, without having to build this in from scratch. By using the forge SDK, developers can also easily add-in smarter capabilities, including recording and presence, which shows when contacts are online, enables chat in groups, as well as the ability to record presence updates, chat, audio and video conversations. By simply signing up and activating an account, developers can join the forge community @ http://developer.forge.acision.com, to enhance the experience of their app or pioneer new services, while growing and managing engagement opportunities by implementing real-time and secure peer-to-peer, one-to-many, group communication and calls.
This two-day hackathon will kick off on Saturday morning at 8:30am EDT, and winners will be announced at 5pm on Sunday evening. When the hacking concludes, teams will have three minutes to demonstrate their prototype to a judging panel, followed by a brief Q&A session with the judges before they can be announced a Challenge Winner! As part of the prizes, Acision will be awarding wearable technology to teams that demonstrate the best use of its technology, so they can keep innovating in new ways.
Produced by the NBCUniversal Media Labs team, this third in a series of Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathons comes on the heels of the media and technology company’s recent events in New York and Universal City, which resulted in product incubations and the hiring of developers.
