Manchester, United Kingdom, (10th January, 2012) – Express Solicitors, a national firm of fully accredited solicitors specialising in no win no fee claims, has featured in The Law Society Gazette in an article based around partner Daniel Slade’s representation of clients claiming they suffered breathing difficulties as a result of using a sofa protection spray from furniture retailer Harveys.
Daniel Slade has represented a number of clients complaining of shortness of breath and other symptoms (including stomach problems, extreme tiredness, sore throat and nausea) they say resulted from using the Harveys Sofa Protector Spray, which features heptane, a solvent known to cause dullness, headaches, nausea and vomiting. Harveys’ insurers have currently provided compensation of “up to several thousand pounds” to some of the claimants.
Mr Slade commented: “Commercial contractors wear a mask when using it, but there is no warning on the packaging when it is sold to the public.”
Harveys said: “We are fully aware of concerns regarding this product. Once we became aware of such concerns the product was immediately withdrawn from sale.”
A spokesperson for Express Solicitors commented: “Daniel has done a fantastic job helping clients receive compensation in such unfortunate circumstances, and we recognise that Harveys has withdrawn the product. In cases like this, people may find themselves uncertain of how to proceed, but seeking the advice of personal injury solicitors is the best way to begin. Now that Daniel and Harveys have both presented their respective sides in The Law Society Gazette, a widespread publication, we hope this case will receive the attention it deserves.”
