The motorcade of the Asian-European Tour that left China for France braved rough weather and reached the Asian-European border at Ekaterinburg in Russia after completing a 10,000-kilometer long journey in the world’s largest country by size.
After crossing the Chinese border in Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia, on September 5, the envoys, safeguarded by a fleet of GAC MOTOR GS5 sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), arrived in Moscow, capital of Russia, on September 20.
The 18,000-kilometer 2014 Great Tour from Asia to European took off from Guangzhou on August 30 is a major event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France.
Ten GAC MOTOR GS5 SUVs took the honour of being the envoys’ means of transportation thanks to the model’s high quality and stability, helping to ensure the success of the journey which is expected to end in Paris on October 1.
During its 15-day journey in Russia, the motorcade left its footprint on Chita, Ulan-Ude, Lake Baikal, Irkutsk, Kansk, Novosibirsk and Moscow, conquering various difficulties resulting from chilly weather and bumpy roads with the participants not only relishing the victory over hardships, but also enjoying the gorgeous sceneries.
GAC MOTOR GS5 proved itself to be a competent all-weather sport vehicle as it helped the cultural ambassadors to shrug off gloomy sentiment arising from the downpour of heavy rains, bumpy roads in the mountainous areas, roads filled with sand stones, while bringing them fun-filled rides on the roads in excellent conditions.
In Siberia where the temperature fell below minus 10 degrees Celsius, the GAC MOTOR GS5 displayed excellent performances that could match to those premium SUVs produced by top global auto brands. Freezing cold couldn’t stop the motorcade from driving smoothly and the passengers enjoyed the comfortable environment inside the vehicles thanks to advanced air-conditioning technologies.
The GS5 with 1.8-liter turbocharged engine emerged to be an ideal showcase of China-based brand vehicles with high quality, great passing ability, and adaptability to various conditions. Working around the clock appeared to be an easy job for GAC MOTOR GS5 as the motorcade’s continuous more than 20 hours of driving through the western part of Siberia made the envoys feel joyful and excited when they arrived in Novosibirsk.
