Melbourne, the independent server hosting provider, has launched Serverlove – a new cloud computing service.
The new service – which has been billed as ‘the most flexible choice for server hosting’ – went live this month following a period of extensive development and Beta testing in which over 100 customers trialled the product.
The company has invested over £50k in the new stand-alone ‘DIY service’, which is supported by Melbourne’s award-winning technology infrastructure and green credentials.
Serverlove provides users with a cloud server that can create operating systems in as little as 30 seconds. With a self-service portal that bills in increments of five minutes, the service has been designed specifically for those who require flexibility with minimal capital investment.
Speaking of the new service, managing director Daniel Keighron-Foster, said: “Cloud computing is increasingly popular with professionals who simply cannot justify the large capital expenditure of traditional IT systems. Up until now, there has been a significant gap in the market for small businesses and individuals who require a server but only want to pay for what they use – they certainly don’t want to be tied into a long contract.”
“Serverlove allows users to scale their servers up and down as required – there are low barriers to entry, low overheads and access is immediate. Essentially, we are delivering all the tools a user requires to manage their own system at a very affordable price.”
Whilst the Melbourne support team will look after Serverlove’s infrastructure and network, the company will have a ‘hands-off’ approach to support. Keighron-Foster explained: “The Serverlove operating system is the responsibility of the user – in fact, we have no access to it at all. This means we can offer one of the lowest priced cloud computing services on the market.”
Prices start from as little as £15 a month and Serverlove is currently offering free trials to customers. For more information, visit www.serverlove.com.
Notes to editors:
- Serverlove is the latest server offering from Melbourne. Established in 2000, the company provides hosting solutions for a wide variety of local, national and international clients in the IT and creative sectors.
- The company is one of the only hosting specialists in the North West to be in control of its own infrastructure, operating three state-of-the-art data centre facilities.
- Melbourne currently operates three data centre facilities in the North West. In 2009, Melbourne invested £750,000 in a new facility based at Manchester TechnoPark. To ensure complete rehabilitation, the data centre has a huge generator and seven days’ supply of fuel, to protect it in case of a power cut. All three data centres operate 24/7, with security and technical support staff constantly on-hand to safeguard against any technical problems.
